The XIII regional festival "The Brotherhood of Folk Masters", the hallmark of the city of Gorodets, will present the brigt palette of folk arts and crafts to its guests.

The cultural event enjoys the popularity far beyond Nizhny Novgorod region. For 12 years the number of artists taking part in the festival programme has grown from 12 persons to 400. The number of representatives of folk crafts’ enterprises has increased from 4 to 48 while the number of guests – from 218 to 6500 people.

The festival attracts masters of folk crafts from 17 regions and 33 cities of Russia. Among the guests there are visitors from Germany, France and other countries.

In 2014 the festival will be dedicated to the promotion of artistic embroidery art that has deep folk roots.

In front of the guests the fairy-tale world of hand-made embroidery will unroll, the history of its origin, unique patterns of exhibition and competion pieces produced by masters and artists of different generations.

The presentation of the new creative project "The museum of Russian musical culture" will take place as well.

At the festival master-classes on national art crafts (golden embroidery, clay toys, Gorodets and Khokhloma painting, Zhbannikov whistle, wood carving, rag doll, etc.) will be organized as well as folk games, photo shooting in historical costume, tea drinking with treacle cakes.

Concerts, exhibitions, helicopter ride and trips by hot air balloons will make the festival an unforgettable event.

Gorodets children river shipping will provide an opportunity for the festival guests to enjoy tours by the river Volga along the banks of the ancient city.
